The Desert Vista Boys Cross Country Team had a great start to their season at the Chandler Invitational on Saturday, September 4th.
The DVCC Freshmen came in 9th place out of 45 teams with a tight finish between Levi Shoemaker in 30th (19:22), Maxton Klein in 32nd (19:25), and Ricky Garibay in 34th (19:29). Cade Baumann (21:32) and Nolan Kirby (24:10) completed the scoring for the squad.
The Thunder Sophomores placed 5th out of 36 teams led by a great performance by Kaden Evans in 20th (17:52). Also scoring were Braedon Lolli in 40th (19:06), followed by by a tight group consisting of Connor Burdette in 53rd (19:26), Mason Klann in 54th (19:31), and Pranas Shrestha in 55th (19:38).
Carrying the Juniors to the finish was Stevie Saurini in 6th place (16:27), securing 8th place for the Junior team out of 25 competing squads. Also scoring were Shaud Becenti in 40th (18:02), Max Worthen in 65th (18:57), Logan Tinsley in 77th (19:21), and Jack Boyd in 83rd (19:34).
Team captains Noah Jodon in 3rd (15:41) and Gabe Parham in 10th (16:16) powered to the finish, securing a team win in the 24-team Senior race. Also scoring were Johnathan Estrada in 12th (16:28), Nolan Billeter in 17th (16:55), and Zaire Blevens in 32nd (17:51).
Overall Desert Vista had the fastest 1st- through 5th-place average, setting them up for a great season.
