Woodbridge Cross Country Classic Recap

The Desert Vista Boys Cross Country team went at it again at the Woodbridge Classic in California this past weekend. The boys competed in the largest regular season meet in the nation against some of the fastest racers in the country. Over 400 different high schools were represented at this regional race! The warmer weather was nothing new to the boys and the completely flat course allowed for some impressive times.

Starting with the DVCC freshman, the Thunder had two finishers in the Top Ten. Ty Anderson in 5th with a time of 16:53 and Stevie Saurini coming in 10th at 17:06. Following them were Nick Ferro taking 67th, Max Worthen in 75th and Jake Schenach in 96th. These boys and their impressive efforts allowed them to come home with the honor taking 4th as a team.

Next were the zooming Sophomores. DVCC had three runners finish in the top fifteen: Nolan Billeter in 10th with a time of 16:33, Ryan Hoyt in 11th at 16:35 and Zaire Blevins in 13th crossing at 16:38. Not too far behind was Will Perciballi in 49th and Diego Rueda in 55th. This impressive team performance brought them a 2nd place finish!

The Thunder Juniors were the next to take the line. Two Thunder runners came in next to each other within the top five. Chris Broze and Jacob Cardon took 3rd and 4th, their times were 16:09 and 16:11. Noah Patch, also had a good showing in 43rd with the time of 17:08. The Junior team brought home an outstanding 7th-place overall finish.

The DVCC Senior class also had an impressive 4th place overall win, with Nicolo Perciballi sliding into 10th place with a time of 16:35.  Noah Werbelow at 20th and Lucas Young at 42nd. Adam Hansen, 60th and Benton Worthen, 82nd rounded off the group to capture their placement.

The final group of the night was the long awaited Sweepstakes race! Desert Vista took 13th place overall in this extremely fast and competitive group. Speedy Sammy VanAlstine was the first Thunder runner in at 14:46, placing 37th. Demitris Love showed his stuff at 15:00 flat, followed by Noah Jodon at 15:15. The rest of the Varsity team was delivered by Johnathan Estrada with a 15:30, Connor Donihi with a 15:43, and Vincent Larente at 15:58. Well done to these impressive runners!
