Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational 2019

On Saturday October 26th, the DVCC Girls competed in the historic Mt SAC Invitational Meet in Walnut, CA. The iconic course is a unique 2.93 mile distance, with very challenging hills and is home to the annual Foot Locker National Championship races. The girls entered two teams - one in the Junior Varsity National Championship race and one in the Sweepstakes Championship.   

In the JV Championship race, the DVCC Girls finished 4th overall out of 9 teams, and 1st among Arizona teams. Freshman Savannah Selin led the way for the DVCC girls in 20:01, Maddy Shoemaker 20:40, Julia Nelson 20:48, Ryan Sailors 21:53, Hannah Garcia 22:41 and Jessica Condon 26:05. 

In the Sweepstakes race, the DVCC Girls finished 1st among Arizona teams and 8th overall as a team. Congratulations to Freshman Lauren Ping, who continued her amazing season by winning the race with a time of 16:47. Olivia Thatcher crossed the line in 18:54, followed by Katy Clausen in 19:26, Eve Boardman 19:34, Quinn Boardman 19:36, Emily Littlefield 19:51, and Josey Gregory 19:54. 

The DVCC Girls will continue their season on Friday, November 8th at the Sectionals race at Crossroads Park in Gilbert. 

The team will race to qualify for the State Meet and run for the State Championship on Saturday, November 16th.
