The girls headed to Fountain Park early on Saturday morning to compete in the Fountain Hills Invitational. Kicking off the morning was the Women’s 5,000 Meter Large School race. The girls finished with a score of 355 putting them in 11th place out of 30 teams. Racing in her first meet of the season, Sophomore Dana Pivin led the varsity race with a time of 20:42.04, with teammate Vanessa Acedo (10) coming in behind her. Both girls placed in the top 50, taking home some hardware. In the JV 3200-meter race, DVCC placed 6th with a team score of 186. Brooklyn Renda (10) had an incredible finish, coming in 4th place with a time of 13:50.78. The Thunder will be ready to race again next Friday, 9/16, at the 41st Annual Woodbridge Cross Country Classic.
